PRIMARY FUNCTION: To direct and manage a comprehensive career and technical education program and facilities and provide leadership to maximize student learning. To serve as an instructional leader in development and improvement of instructional programs in career and technical education.Provide leadership, oversight, and administration for alternative learning experience (ALE) programs within the district. This role ensures compliance with Washington State's ALE requirements, develops and implements instructional models, oversees student learning plans, and provides strategic guidance to staff.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid Washington State Administrator certificate, and Washington State Teacher certificate required.
  • CTE Director Certificate Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related field required.
  • Minimum three years CTE teaching experience in a secondary school preferred.
  • Minimum three years successful administrative experience in a secondary school preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.DIRECTOR OF CTE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supervise and evaluate CTE certificated staff and classified staff using District approved methods;
    • Assume responsibility for providing resources and leadership to accomplish district Career and Technical Education goals.
    • Supervise CTE programs and manage their continuous review, training, evaluation and improvement, including grant applications and reports.
    • Plan, implement, and evaluate CTE budget allocated to the district in accordance with federal, state and district guidelines.
    • Participate in district/regional CTE Advisory Committees and serve as the district representative on these committees.
    • Manage the preparation of financial reports as required by federal, state and district requirements.
    • Provide leadership and support for the adaptation of CTE to meet the needs of special student populations.
    • Collaborate with post-secondary institutes and CTE staff to articulate and maintain dual-credit opportunities.
    • Lead the process for integration of CTE and academic programs where appropriate.
    • Ensure CTE courses meet National and State standards and frameworks.
    • Assist in the recruiting, screening and hiring of CTE teachers and support staff.
    • Act as advisor to the Superintendent on matters relating to CTE budget, programs and other appropriate matters.
    • Maintain close working relationship and coordinate activities, program and scheduling with administrators.
    • Be knowledgeable of current trends and best practices in career and technical education and maintain expertise in assigned area.
    • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures.
    • Interact with parents, outside agencies, businesses and community to enhance the understanding of the program and priorities and to elicit support and assistance.
    • Able to travel and participate in appropriate professional conferences & trainings that enhance the CTE program.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Uphold East Valley School Board Policies, follow administrative procedures, adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct, and enforce school rules.ALTERNATIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of ALE programs, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
      • Ensure compliance with OSPI requirements, including enrollment, progress monitoring, and documentation.
      • Develop and maintain district policies and procedures to ensure ALE compliance, including reporting, audits, and financial accountability.
      • Support ALE teachers in designing and delivering personalized, competency-based, and flexible learning opportunities.
      • Oversee the selection, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional materials aligned with state standards.
      • Collaborate with school and district leaders to integrate equitable learning opportunities, ensuring access to ALE programs for diverse student populations.
      • Provide guidance on effective remote, online, and blended learning models to enhance student engagement and success.
      • Supervise and evaluate ALE staff.
      • Provide professional development for staff on ALE requirements, student engagement strategies, and best practices in alternative education.
      • Support educators in implementing intervention strategies for students demonstrating unsatisfactory progress.
      • Develop strategies to increase student participation in ALE programs, ensuring families understand the benefits and expectations of alternative learning.
      • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding ALE requirements, progress reports, and intervention plans.
      • Establish partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and higher education institutions to expand ALE opportunities (e.g., internships, dual credit, CTE programs).
      • Analyze enrollment, student progress, and assessment data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform instructional decisions.
      • Use data-driven strategies to identify gaps in equity and access, improving outcomes for all students.
      • Develop and implement a program improvement plan aligned with district goals and strategic initiatives.DIRECTOR OF CTE QUALIFICATIONS:

          • Experience in alternative learning models, such as online learning, competency-based education, or flexible learning environments.
          • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding ALE, online learning, and alternative education.
          • Proven experience in program development, compliance, and educational leadership.
          • Strong knowledge of alternative learning frameworks, personalized learning, and competency-based education.
          • Ability to interpret and apply state and federal education regulations related to ALE.
          • Effective team leadership, coaching, and staff development skills.
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
          • Proficiency in data analysis, enrollment tracking, and educational technology.
